Every region has its favourite local spots — places that grow with us, celebrate with us, and become woven into the rhythm of our daily lives.

For many Albertans, Hankki, a Korean street food brand born here, has become one of those places.

Born in Calgary and supported by communities across the province, Hankki has always viewed itself as more than a restaurant. It is part of the neighbourhood, part of the culture, and part of the community that has embraced it since day one.

And this winter, Hankki is choosing to return that love in a very real, practical way.

Introducing “Giving Back The Love,” Hankki’s new community-focused initiative created to thank Alberta for its support, uplift local communities, and ensure that the warmth Hankki receives is shared with those who need it most.

Why Hankki Is Doing This — The Heart Behind the Initiative

Christmas-themed Hankki spread with Hankki Bowl, Korean fried chicken, fries and Korean-style corndogs, promoting the “Giving Back the Love” $5 charity event in Alberta.

Hankki’s growth has always been fuelled by people.

Albertans lined up during grand openings, shared recommendations with friends, supported the stores during challenging times, and turned Hankki into a beloved part of Alberta’s food culture.

This campaign is Hankki’s way of recognizing that support and living out its “More Than a Meal” philosophy.

Why now?

  • Because winter is a vulnerable season for many families.

  • Because community care matters.

  • Because a local business should give back to the place that helped build it.

Giving Back The Love” reflects Hankki’s belief that food has the power to bring people together — and that shared warmth can create real impact beyond the plate.

What Happens on Giving Back the Love Day — $5 Hankki Meals on December 14

A key pillar of the campaign is Giving Back The Love Day, happening across the province on:

  • 📅 Date: Sunday, December 14

  • Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • 📍 Locations: 9 Hankki stores across Alberta

(Except Bow Valley Square, Centennial, and Calgary Farmers’ Market)

During these three hours:

  • Nearly the entire menu will be offered for $5

  • 100% of the revenue from these $5 Hankki meals will be donated

  • All funds will support individuals living with disabilities through Easter Seals Alberta

This is not just a promotion.

This is not just a sale.

This is Hankki pressing pause on business — and dedicating the day entirely to community impact.

Your $5 is more than a meal — It’s someone’s warm winter.

For nearly a century, Easter Seals has provided:

  • Mobility equipment

  • Accessibility support

  • Camps and programs for children and adults

  • Resources that help families navigate daily challenges

Their mission is simple: to break down barriers and ensure individuals with disabilities can live with dignity, independence, and inclusion.

By partnering with Easter Seals Alberta, Hankki ensures that every $5 meal becomes a direct contribution to someone's safety, comfort, and quality of life — especially during the coldest months of the year.

More Than a Meal Event — Giving Back to the People Around Hankki

Giving Back The Love” is Hankki’s heartfelt message to the province:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we’re here for you — just as you’ve been here for us.

It’s a celebration of Alberta’s generosity, the strength of local communities, and the shared belief that small gestures, multiplied across a province, can create meaningful change.
