HANKKi Visits Father Lacombe High School: A Student-Led Calgary School Event to Remember

How a Student-Led Campaign Turned Into an Unforgettable Senior Memory

On April 16, HANKKi made a very special visit to Father Lacombe High School in Calgary, the winning school of our “Back to School – Free HANKKi Food Truck” event that first launched last September.

What began as a simple Instagram campaign turned into something much bigger — a memorable school event shared with students, teachers, and especially the graduating Class of 2026.

How the HANKKi School Event Started

Last September, HANKKi launched a special Instagram event inviting students across Calgary to tag their friends and comment why HANKKi should visit their school. The winning school would receive a free HANKKi food truck experience.

Students from all over the city joined the campaign, but in the end, Father Lacombe High School came out on top.

One of the students leading the excitement was Francise, a Grade 12 student who wanted to create one final high school memory with her classmates before graduation. Together with her friends, she actively participated in the campaign and encouraged others to join as well.

Months later, that effort became reality.

For one afternoon, HANKKi had the opportunity to become part of an unforgettable senior-year memory for Francise and the Father Lacombe graduating class.

Snowstorm? HANKKi Still Showed Up

The original plan was to host the HANKKi food truck outdoors on school grounds. But Calgary weather had other plans. An unexpected April snowstorm suddenly hit the city, forcing a last-minute change of plans.

Despite the heavy snow, HANKKi was determined to keep its promise to the students.

So instead of cancelling, the team pushed through the snow and brought the full HANKKi school event experience directly inside the school gym. The location changed — but the energy absolutely did not.

If anything, the snowy weather made the event feel even warmer.

What Was Served at the HANKKi School Food Truck Event?

Students were able to choose between two of HANKKi’s most popular menu items:

HANKKi’s signature bowl featuring sweet and savoury marinated pork served over steamed rice with fresh vegetables and crispy fried veggie dumplings.

Chee Bop

One of HANKKi’s fan favourites — crispy chicken paired with rice, fresh toppings, and flavour-packed sauce for the perfect balance of comfort food and Korean street food energy.

Throughout the lunch period, the gym was filled with students enjoying HANKKi Bowls together, taking photos, and sharing the experience with friends

Why HANKKi Bowls Are Great for Students

This event was never just about giving away free food. It was about providing students with a meal that actually supports their day.

Students spend hours studying, moving between classes, participating in activities, and staying mentally focused. That’s why balance matters.

A HANKKi Bowl naturally delivers that balance through:

  • Protein that helps maintain energy throughout the day

  • Carbohydrates from steamed rice for long-lasting fuel

  • Fresh vegetables that add fibre and nutrients

It’s quick and convenient like fast food, but nutritionally, it offers something far more balanced and satisfying.

That combination of flavour, comfort, and practicality is exactly why HANKKi Bowls connect so well with students.

More Than a Giveaway — A Shared School Memory

What made this event special was that the students themselves made it happen.

They commented, tagged friends, shared the campaign, and brought energy to the event from the very beginning. By the time April arrived, the anticipation inside the school was real.

From the moment the doors opened, the gym was filled with excitement, conversation, and the kind of atmosphere that only happens when people genuinely look forward to something together.

For HANKKi, being able to contribute to those memories — especially for graduating students preparing for their final chapter of high school — made the visit meaningful in a much bigger way.

This Is Just the Beginning

The Father Lacombe visit was one special chapter, but it won’t be the last.

HANKKi will continue finding ways to connect with schools, communities, and students across Calgary through events that bring people together over good food and shared experiences.
