Together Again for Thanksgiving: HANKKi × UNA pizza + wine Calgary
HANKKi and UNA pizza + wine Calgary came together for our second collaboration this Thanksgiving.
After partnering for Valentine’s Day in 2024, we reunited for another occasion that brings people together around food.
This time, we prepared a special Thanksgiving giveaway to thank everyone who supports HANKKi and UNA and give our guests an opportunity to share their appreciation with someone important to them.
Think of someone you would love to share a meal with, and tell them why you’re thankful for them.
That simple invitation was where this event began.
UNA and HANKKi: Part of Calgary’s Community
Since opening its first restaurant on Calgary’s 17th Avenue in 2010, UNA pizza + wine Calgary has created spaces where people can gather over pizza and wine.
With California-inspired thin-crust pizzas and warm hospitality, UNA values its role as a neighbourhood restaurant where friends and families can enjoy a meal and spend time together. Its efforts to support local suppliers and businesses reflect that commitment to the wider community.
At HANKKi, we bring Korean street food into the everyday lives of the people we serve. A bowl during a busy day, a corndog shared with a friend, or dinner picked up for the family each meal becomes part of a different moment in someone’s life.
Our relationship with the community grows through those everyday encounters. For a guest trying Korean street food for the first time, a visit can be an introduction to new flavours. For someone returning for their favourite order, it can be a familiar meal they look forward to. When a guest introduces a friend to HANKKi, our food becomes part of another connection.
Through these experiences, HANKKi continues to find its place in the community. Every time you choose us for a meal, recommend us to someone, or support a new location or event, you help us reach more people and continue growing.
That support also encourages us to think about how we can show our appreciation. Alongside preparing your food, we want to make your experience with HANKKi enjoyable from a warm greeting in the restaurant to an event you can take part in with someone you care about. These are some of the moments through which we hope you experience “More Than a Meal.”
Our collaboration with UNA grew from that intention. As two brands serving the same local community in our own ways, we wanted to come together and prepare something special for the people who support us.
Who are you sharing good food with this Thanksgiving?
That question was at the heart of our giveaway.
To enter, participants followed HANKKi and UNA, tagged someone they were thankful for in the comments, and left a message explaining why.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the people in our lives and share our gratitude. But even when we appreciate someone, we don’t always find a moment to tell them—especially when they’re someone we see or speak to all the time.
It might be the person who keeps encouraging you, makes time for you despite a busy schedule, or listens to the story of your day over a meal. We hoped this event would offer a reason to let that person know what their presence means to you.
Taking a moment to think of someone, tag their name, and write a few words could become a welcome message in their day. Through a giveaway prepared for the people who love HANKKi and UNA, we wanted to create an opportunity for that appreciation to reach a little further.
The giveaway ran from October 8 to 12, with the winner announcement on October 13. Two winners would each receive:
A $50 HANKKi gift card
A $50 UNA pizza + wine Calgary gift card
Each winner would receive $100 in gift cards to enjoy both brands, with prize pickup available in Calgary only.
Along with an opportunity to send a message of thanks, we wanted to offer a chance to spend time together over good food. We hope the gift cards give our winners a reason to make plans with someone special and continue the conversation beyond Thanksgiving.
